INTUITION – Refreshing our interpretation of the word ‘intuition’ offers a simple reminder that it means learning from within rather than without.

Intuition is the faculty within us that encourages us toward what we consider to be right action, feelings and thoughts. Intuition teaches us and helps us to be true to ourselves and to live according to our aspirations and highest aims. It tends to develop as a dominant faculty particularly with females and has a vast potential to aid all of us in the art of living. But in order to be aware and receptive to this inner guiding voice, we must be sensitive to it and learning to trust it takes a little practice.

Awareness of intuition may vary with each of us, sometimes occurring with a subtle but repeated or sustained feeling about something or someone. Sometimes like a bolt out of the blue we may feel compelled to act upon a strong ‘hunch’ when we seem motivated by an inner shout rather than a subtle whisper of what to do. Some of us may choose to be ‘deaf’ to the inner voice, and can only find trust in logical thoughts as they arise from a familiar basis.

However, we are most likely to benefit by our inner guidance and wisdom, if we are conscious of the existence of the faculty and are prepared to listen to our own inner counsel.

The result is of benefit to us in several ways – by the expansion of our sensitivity and awareness of everything around us and in our lives; by increased perception of factors in our relationships that allow greater exercise of compassion; it offers a means of trusting ourselves and gaining greater self confidence; and discovering and utilizing intuition allows us to know that we are capable of accessing inner wisdom as to how to direct our lives constructively.

Learning to appeal and to listen to this inner voice of wisdom and to apply it will invite direct proof of its value.

We find that in passive moments of contemplation, or in the midst of intellectual activity, fresh creative thoughts arise of our own making.
New thoughts and ideas are conceived and through action are born into the world.

As our own minds develop we become more eager to share our thoughts and express them as we naturally wish to engage in conversation to exchange ideas and consider the opinions and information of others.

Thought of a profound nature is seen as the inherent wisdom of a culture or philosophy.

In the case of classical teachings, they have been tested and perpetuated over centuries of time. These provide the basis upon which each generation relies upon in establishing their ideas and values.

We also are free to contribute our own creative ideas for the benefit of the coming generation. Each of us is capable of adding something constructive to the vast accumulation of human thought and experience. All of us have undergone experiences that have led us to arrive at some profound insight, understanding or wisdom. We could be considered un-generous if we did not wish to give to others the fruit of our valued life experience and be able to express this in some way. So the storehouse of human knowledge grows.

This advance of thought and discovery is particularly obvious in the modern sciences and technologies that have created rapid change and development to a degree that would have stunned previous generations.

Each of us seeking to develop our own creative thought must rely upon intuition where lies our inner strength as well as unlimited resources of imagination and concentration that lie in reserve, untapped, awaiting our urge to expand our particular interests.

It is no longer sufficient to possess a mere acceptance of adopted ideologies that require faith. These must be advanced and confirmed through personal knowledge born of direct experience as applied in any science.

With the mental sense of security that comes through trust in proven knowledge is established the springboard for the mind’s adventuring into new territory. We find that in passive moments of contemplation, or in the midst of intellectual activity, fresh creative thoughts arise of our own making.

New thoughts and ideas are conceived and through action are born into the world.

We players must study the laws of music and the score of the great symphony and we must practise diligently and persistently until we can play our parts unerringly in harmony with the concepts of the Great Composer. At the same time we must learn to keep our instrument, the body, in the best possible condition; for even the greatest artist, endowed with a profound knowledge of the laws of music and possessed of the most perfect technique, cannot produce musical and harmonious sound from an instrument with strings relaxed or overly tense, or with its body filled with rubbish.”

The mind can lead us astray. Having found our way through the labyrinthine paths of trying to understand ourselves and life itself, we take refuge in the ever comforting sanctity of the heart to feel its peace and its eternal capacity to love.

Many of us are trapped in the inner world of our own thoughts. We get entangled in the maze of ideas, impulses, reactions, memories, processes, dreams and yearnings that can take possession of our thought faculties and over which at times it seems we have no conscious control. We must respect the position of power and influence of our mind that governs and directs our feelings and actions but we must not allow its strident dictatorship.

Nor should we ever be nervous or fearful of the role that the mind plays in our psyche. There are equally important aspects of our being, namely our emotions and our will. The brain reflects the complexity of our mind in its structure and faculties. But the heart reflects the constant rhythm of our feeling connection with the orchestra of Nature. Our will resides in the deeper recesses of our soul. Having found our way through the labyrinthine paths of trying to understand ourselves and life itself, we take refuge in the ever comforting sanctity of the heart to feel its peace and its eternal capacity to love. With the assistance of our spiritual will, we can then direct our lives towards our highest aspirations and work for excellence, as is the finest habit in human nature. In this, we require the faithful companionship of our minds that entertain thoughts to guide us and direct our emotions towards our goal.

Cancer in particular it is a complex disease rife in the so called 'developed ‘countries where polluting toxic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, industries abound as does greed and material indulgence beyond basic necessity. Material affluence could be seen to be a factor in taking us far from the pure and natural elements we need for health.

Of course we all need to know what is necessary for our own education about the disease called Cancer. Most of us have loved ones who have or are at present suffering from the symptoms or even the chemical treatment methods currently in vogue. There are few families that escape this modern health hazard in our polluted environment where no natural element is untainted.

However, although in particular it is a disease of the so called ‘developed countries’ where chemicals, pharmaceuticals, industries abound as does greed and material affluence, it is not entirely without other factors in its complex causes.

On the side of prevention, it is our duty to ourselves to be familiar with the known or suspected causes and avoid incorporating any of these factors or habits in our lifestyle. On the positive side, we must make every effort to build up our natural health and resistance by practising the well known rules for good health.

Once we are involved in a positive programme we should then be inwardly confident that we will avoid contracting such a disease – one born from the chaos of modern life.

It is so important to create simplicity and harmony and avoid the trend of greedily desiring something new and exciting . We should rather seek for a revival and return to apply the rules of Nature so we can rather look forward to a pleasurable old age and when we die it will be that we ‘wear out’ rather than die riddled with dreadful disease.

Remember the natural way of dying is to die quietly and peacefully in one’s sleep, when spiritually and physically exhausted and life has lost further attraction.

Mental hygiene – the basic rule for health – keeping our thoughts clear of any unwholesome thoughts and ideas

Mental attitude – our positive mental attitude allows positive moods and happiness and is just as important as good physical posture that allows healthy physiological processes

Mental ‘diet’ or nourishment – the matter which we read, or listen to, must be of good quality material and provide a healthy variety of information that we can digest

Mental exercise and endeavour – the mind is naturally made for activity as our body is designed for movement. It requires disciplined thought to channel our mental abilities into constructive intellectual studies, work and endeavours.

Mental rest and relaxation – we need to be free of stress to allow natural mental processes to function freely. Mental relaxation and meditation offer refreshment even more pleasant than deliberate relaxation of the body muscles to relieve strain.

Mental ‘Breathing or Respiration’ – Physical deep breathing is important in order to oxygenate the blood and brain. However we need to keep our minds functioning freely through good relationships and mental exchange with others which could be seen as mental ‘breathing’ – that is, both taking in ideas as well as expressing our own thoughts.

Mental vitality and creative capacity – vitality and creativity are clear indicators both of good physical health and a healthy state of mind. We need to keep up our mental interests, creative hobbies and enthusiasm for living.

Mental environment – We need to enjoy shared wholesome mental interests with others in a friendly and harmonious climate sharing similar ideologies.

Mental ‘Sunshine’ and appreciation of our good fortune

Just as we enjoy sunshine, we all feel the psychological benefit and enjoy bathing in the warmth of a vibrant personality or the affection and encouragement of friends. Encouragement is an important requirement in order to enjoy good mental growth and self confidence. The support or encouragement extended to you by family, teachers, friends and associates has a tonic effect and we benefit by our good fortune when we are surrounded by loving and happy people and influences which inspire us to Keep Happy!

In addition to use in science there is an application relationship in psychology by understanding the qualities and different vibratory rates in human nature.

Natural White Light is comprised of what we often call the seven colours of the rainbow.

By its light astronomers are able to analyse and distinguish different features of a celestial body or galaxy through observation of its colours. These are the true colours or energies that are recorded by sophisticated technology, not the colour enhanced, beautiful images we are often provided through NASA.

There is some similar relationship in astro-psychology when we realise the importance of light itself and are interested in analysing the seven colours of the spectrum into which light reveals itself when applied to the seven fold spheres of human beings.

This is nothing new, but modern interest is causing a revival in order to relate it to and have it complement what we know of modern psychology and astro-psychology so that we can better understand the planetary energies that rain upon us.

The spectrum range of colour is well known with red as the basic, slowest vibratory rate to purple, with the fastest, finest vibration. These, in extremely subtle delicacy, are visible in the aura to those trained to observe.

It is essential is to realise that we all express ourselves through these different colour moods, attitudes and actions but we are all capable of tuning in and perfecting expression of the full range of the spectrum. At that stage we are capable of transmitting the White light that is the sum total or synthesis of all seven.

Red -in our nature as well as a love of this colour spells practical action, excitement, passion, intense desires, ambitions, courage, outgoing nature with a will to ‘come first’. When polluted or insipid could represent selfishness or rash nature. It is essentially male.

Orange- is a very warm and also outgoing energy indicating a warm heart, optimistic attitudes, and interest in health and good cheer. It is a sociable colour and although extrovert, is often seen as associated with the Moon. It is vital influence in understanding our subconscious mind.

Yellow, the colour of the Sun is naturally a powerful energy associated with creative thought, dignity, spirituality, universality and abundance. It represents pure gold or wealth, leadership and wisdom.

Green -is the soothing tone of Nature and it is rare that someone who loves green is not a nature lover of the forest, flower, seaside etc. Such a colour allows one to feel at home in natural surroundings rather than social environment. Green is the balancing agent and restorer.

Blue – the wonderful colour of harmony and peace – the colour that is attributed to the female goddesses and the Virgin Mary, or the Mother of the Earth. Blue soothes troubled waters and seeks the sea or sky for comfort. It is the nurturer, gentle and understanding.

Indigo – intense colour of the midnight sky. It represents the Mother principle but rather as the maternal carer of the sky rather than the earth. Those who love this colour tend to be investigators and researchers, seeking truth and the cause of things. Lover of the heavens.

Purple is a colour appreciated by religious devotees, by those who are purists in their chosen sphere, and by those who aspire to high ideals or have visions of helping the world by their existence and dedication. This is the highest spiritual colour keynote in us that permits self sacrifice for a greater good.

It is customary after concentration upon the spectrum colours or after meditating upon them, particularly after red or the other extreme, purple, that we conclude by return to green.

Meditation on White Light allows us to inwardly balance and harmonize all these colours to feel inwardly secure and at peace.

Some people attempt to describe the different thought processes by comparing the usual rational thought as a script made with an impermanent pencil and one of realization inscribed permanently in the memory, accompanied with a sense of having ‘found’ the answer.

Realization is the experience of our consciousness when we discover, or rediscover a truth.

It follows as a natural response to our efforts in our quest for knowledge. It does not come to us on demand but rather spontaneously and often when we least expect it. It cannot be related solely to a thought experience of the mind. It also can involve emotional excitation and euphoria of spirit. Realization is variously described according to the intensity and the sphere of knowledge to which it is related.

It is illustrated in comic strips as a light globe above the head of the character. It is verbally described as ‘I see’ in the sense of comprehension and understanding. It is seen as an awakening or new experience beyond the familiar effort and process of conscious thinking. And it is also commonly used to indicate an acceptance of a truth about life.

Truth can be related to practical knowledge of a material nature, human emotions and mind states, or extended to observances of nature and comprehension of the great natural laws of the cosmos. We can realize facts about mundane material things or about invisible, spiritual energies.

Spiritual realization has been described as a spiritual and heightened state of mind and consciousness beyond any previous experience in the life of the individual. It is commonly described in accounts of those who have had a near death experience and who associate it with light and supernal feelings of love.

Realization on all levels gives us a most satisfying experience. It takes us beyond the thinking exercise and familiar efforts and processes of the mind to arrive at a point where one’s whole intelligence KNOWS and understands.

Some people attempt to describe the different thought processes by comparing the usual rational thought as a script made with an impermanent pencil and one of realization inscribed permanently in the memory, accompanied with a sense of having ‘found’ the answer.

Truths are experienced, applied and sometimes recorded, to pass and advance through a chain of wisdom from one generation to the next in unbroken continuance of human discovery or rediscovery of truths. These are offered to, and hopefully embraced by the young – those who are responsible for perpetuating the hard won wisdom of past ages.

Can we cancel present world negative patterns and redeem our Earth paradise?

This is a question we are all asking…….

The world in which we are living in the 21st century is not conducive to health of any kind. We have a struggle to survive- physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The destructive tendencies of man have been rampant in every sphere and have contaminated our living from family life to nations. Seemingly we are neglecting or even discarding the clear patterns and guidelines for human culture.

We would all agree that the overall current trends and actions, habits and attitudes are not in agreement with a natural humane way of life.

Let us focus on a few of the disturbing facts, and think about ……..

The needless destruction of our environment.

The pollution of the atmosphere with chemicals, noise and radiation

The contamination of our earth, drinking water and food

The violence and aggression between people and nations

The destructive use of nuclear energy

The diabolical use of germ warfare

The crumbling of religious traditions and cultures

The defamation of our heroes and religious leaders

The apathy which allows vivisection and cruel experimentation with animals

The loss of classical values in the arts

The rampant expression of ugliness and disharmony

The exaggerated focus upon material success

The glorification of intellectualism over and above simple intelligence

The moral weakness in society

The neurotic interest in sex

The increasing extent of addiction to drugs and alcohol

The destruction of the family unit

The increase of physical and mental disease

The serious side effects of medicinal drugs

The general social revolt against law and order

And the sad fact that the ideal of freedom of expression has degenerated into license to disturb our fellow man.

………………………..

We need to think clearly, try to address all these serious problems and plan for a better future by creating an ordered and patterned way of life.

Can we cancel the old patterns and formulate new plans for a better future?

We must do so.

LET US START TODAY – formulate new plans. Specify the improvements you consider are vital as a people perhaps to our very survival into the future.

Don’t wait for ‘them’ to do something. Each of us must make a change and contribute now.

…………………………..

In maintaining clear thought and concentration we realize the importance of the instrument of our brain, more sensitive and more valuable than our material computer.

In maintaining clear thought and concentration we realize the importance of the instrument of our brain, more sensitive and more valuable than our material computer.

We all suffer at some time certain tiredness of the mind. Of course there are many causes. The most obvious ones often relate to study and intellectual demands through professions bearing heavy responsibility, or the self inflicted habit of cycling and recycling personal disturbing thoughts of anxiety related to everyday life.

Because our minds need to work efficiently to keep a balance between serious creative brain activity and rest periods when we ‘take our minds off the subject’ we must all find appropriate ways to counter any brain fatigue or strain.

If satisfied that we are spending the major part of our thinking time appropriately, then we have only to be sure that we are giving time to alternative thought time that allows our brains a ‘holiday’ from the usual. We should not put undue self inflicted pressure or ambition upon ourselves. But we are the only ones who can assess how much is too much regarding personal career effort or acceptance of responsibilities. However it is important that we are reminded to be kind to ourselves and find time for periods of true mental refreshment.

This is where hobbies are a great help and offer a direct line of pleasant activity. Another is to practise regularly the discipline of sitting still and ‘doing nothing’. This is difficult for most of us reared in a society that encourages and respects activity. But social attitudes can also breed stress. However you will find it easy if you follow a few simple steps.

Just taking a few minutes in private to sit still and rest your brain by closing your eyes to shut out extraneous light. Take 20 smooth, slow deep breaths. This has a revitalizing effect upon the brain through increased oxygen levels as well as a calming influence on the nervous system. It is important to breathe through the nose, not the mouth. After these few minutes, just remain still to enjoy the quieter state of mind that follows.

Although eyes are closed you will remain aware of everything around you but gradually find reduction in any reaction to noises and outside influences. Thoughts will come and go – do nothing to prevent them but let them pass like fish swimming by.

You may choose to spend only a few minutes this way but when you are comfortable and can remain longer, you will find it interesting experience as a prelude to further practice in meditation.

This seated position is the western style and often referred to as ‘the Egyptian’ seat for Meditation. The spine should be as erect as possible. Young people prefer the classical X legged positions used in Yoga. Either is fine, as long as the spine is upright and you are comfortable enough to forget about the body activity other than your breathing.
