Concentration is one of our most potent mental tools in developing mental fitness.

It is our main faculty we use when learning or reading and when we are in a receptive or listening mode. We use this faculty to help us focus upon important personal interests in everyday life and we employ concentration in some measure every day.

Concentration is mind power. It is the element we require to accomplish anything. We use it to pin-point our energy and thought upon one particular selected subject.

The principle is simple. If you keep your thoughts upon a particular aim you will succeed. But this is determined upon our choices, ambitions and desires and also our patience as we cannot always expect immediate results. A definite aim will ensure that any concentrated thought will bear fruit.

Since human beings began to develop their minds, they have been aware of the importance of thought in commanding the feelings and actions of each individual. We must have some thought activity to motivate any action other than those instinctive responses that function in our life preservation.

Each of us develops our character and nature and attracts circumstances by the power of our mind’s concentration, whether this is a conscious exercise of mind power, or the result of a strong focus of subconscious mental energy. Like a magnet each attracts what has been their individual intense desire or purpose.

Regrettably, if we concentrate upon negative factors we will draw a response also. We will often attract to us the circumstances we dwell upon and we fear most. It is best to be sure that all our mental focus is upon positive and constructive aims, ethically motivated, and highly principled rather than for selfish ends.

As effort is needed to build physical fitness, conscious effort of thought is required to build mental ‘muscle-power’ or strong mindedness if we wish to demonstrate our mental fitness.

When you wish to improve your power of concentration there are many interesting training systems available to choose from.
